Blocking Peptides |
 |
It is common for antibodies to bind to proteins other than the
intended antigen. However, these non-specific bindings can be
identified. The band that is specific to the immunizing peptide can
be determined via an immunizing peptide blocking experiment.
GenScript provides a comprehensive collection of blocking
peptides as negative controls for antibody customers. These
controls include affinity-purified polyclonal and monoclonalantibodies raised against peptide antigens. The binding of the
antigen to the antibody may be reduced or blocked by
pre-absorption with the blocking peptides. These peptides can
be used to confirm that the observed signal is due to the
antibody’s interaction with target antigen instead an outcome of
non-specific binding. We keep more than 200 blocking peptides
in stock at all times for most of our phospho-specific and pan
antibodies.
